Picture this, as you come into Le Reve Spa Santa Barbara you feel instant relaxation. It becomes Pavlovian upon visiting. When you lay on a Le Reve Spa table, you take a slow deep breath in... 1... , 2 ... , 3 ... and then out 3 ... , 2 ... , ... 1. Your stresses begin to escape with each inhale and exhale moving from this point on. While you are slowly zoning off into your happy place, we massage your head and scalp. We lay down two warm floral water eye pads on your eyelids. The sweet floral fragrance assists you in drifting off to a blissful state. Once the eye pads are placed, we start applying a stimulating exfoliating polish onto your hands and lower arms as well as your lower legs and feet. This vigorous body polish not only feels amazing, but it also physically removes a lot of build up of dead skin and impurities utilizing ground walnut shell. 

"Aside from the benefits of the physical polish application walnut shell has to offer you have an additional exfoliating benefit. This is because walnut shell is a great source of lactic acid. Lactic acid works to eat away at dead skin over time with or without utilizing a physical exfoliating method added. Take another deep breath in ... 1... , 2 ... , 3 ... and out 3 ... , 2 ... , 1 ... Feel the pressure of our hands onto your temples, and feel the warm brush on your skin as we cleanse your face. Feel the brush glide onto your skin in a synchronize almost hypnotic motion. Using warm sponges to remove the cleanser, we then analyze your skin to identify your skin type and condition. After our skin analysis we do our second cleanse. This helps penetrate deeper into your pores to continue to remove any impurities your skin may have.

Afterward, we exfoliate your face, neck, and décolleté to help soften and remove any dead skin. As you lay there relaxing, we provide you a soothing head, neck and shoulder massage. You continue to drift while listening to the calming spa music coupled with the relaxing white noise provided by our fountains and our historic maple floors . Upon removing your exfoliant, our esthetician will begin to prep your skin for treatment. During this time, if you are like most of our guests, you may have nodded off. While you are in a state of cloud nine your skin is treated with a series of masks designed to meet your specific skin care needs. 

Once the appropriate time has passed per treatment application, we remove it using a hot compress treated with hydrating essence to help groom the skin. Your skin is then rehydrated and conditioned with the proper serums and moisturizers.  We gently wake you up before we step out by having you breath in 1 ... , 2 ... , 3 ... , and out 3 ... , 2 ... , 1 ... While welcoming you back to the day you are offered cool fresh water to help further rehydrate you.

Benefits of sticking to a routine!

Routine, Routine, Routine!

Consistency is key! The easiest way to achieve this is to keep it simple. Your skin care doesn't need twelve steps just four. Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and protect. If you have trouble making this a habit begin your routine just at night but make sure you're putting sunblock or some kind of sun protection on in the mornings. Once you've got your night routine down start doing it in the morning as well! When you stick to  a skin care routine you'' see the most benefits.

If your looking to make your skin the healthiest it can be sticking to your routine is the fastest way to make that happen. The long-term result will have you wishing you'd done way earlier.

   Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser 

This cleanser is ideal for those with sensitive skin, and those are looking to treat rosacea, redness, and aging skin.  The Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser is as soothing to the skin as Chamomile tea is soothing to the throat and soul. The beginning of August means school is just around the corner. You can virtually hear the sad sighs of students floating in the wind. I'm a little nervous for this year but equally as excited. Today I have some back to school tips to keep you skin as healthy as can be throughout the school year.

1. Stay hydrated! Make water your best friend. H2O is so important to stay healthy is general but it's got plenty of benefits for you skin. So keep a refillable water bottle with you from class to class.

2. Exfoliated cleanse! You've spent all summer in the sun and although that tan looks great you don't want dead skin to collect and collect. A light exfoliation and daily cleansing will keep your skin fresh and beautiful even at that dreaded 8 A.M. class. And don't forget to moisturize!

3. Get a good night's sleep! All day you walk around school wishing you could go back to bed, right? So don't skimp out when your at home actually in bed. Your skin loves sleep just as much as you do.

4. Keep everything that touches your face clean! Make-up brushes are a sure way to stress your skin out if they're dirty. So can oily/dirty hair that is constantly sticking to your forehead. Clean them regularly so all you have to worry about is a quick study sash.

5. Use good products! Be cautious of what you put n your face. Just like you wouldn't want to put false information into an essay, you don''t want to put harsh chemicals onto your face.

Citrus Exfoliating Wash

Eminence Citrus Exfoliating Wash

This is a gel wash for normal-to-oily skin, the Citrus Exfoliating Wash gently exfoliates and cleanses the skin. It's made with fresh lime juice to remove impurities and grapefruit seed and silica to leave your face luminously clear.

I've been using this exfoliating wash for about a while now and my skin is loving it! I apply a tiny dollop into my hand and rub it gently into my skin in circular motions. This little bit goes along a way. I use it 2-3 times a week and with each use my skin looks better and better. 

With oily skin it's important maintain proper exfoliation techniques. If you over exfoliate, depriving the skin of all it's natural oils, it will  only cause the production of even more oil to try fix the problem. if you already have oily skin then that would be a disaster. Of course, if you don't exfoliate enough then the oils and dirt collect in you skin causing a mess of clogged pores and acne, AH! 

This face wash is a holy grail. It does it's job at cleaning the skin while not being agressively abrasive. It's refreshing rather than harsh which is difficult to find with exfoliators. So it's safe to say that this Eminence product like all the others we carry is a win and definitely gets my recommendation!

Here at Le Reve we have a couple different mists that will help you to battle skin damage.


Starting with, the award winning Stone Crop Hydrating Mist. This mist not only hydrates but refreshes, appeases irritation, and reduces pigmentation in the skin with succulent and healing stone crop plant. This mist is perfect for when you've been exposed to the shining Santa Barbara sun for a little too long and works for all skin types.

Eminence Eight Greens Phyto Masque

Eight Greens Phyto Masque

The Eights Greens Phyto masque is made of whole plants and seeds that are filled with phytoestrogens and antioxidants. It helps to improve hydration and elasticity, decline signs of aging, defuse oily skin, and prevent breakouts. What your left with is skin that looks fresh and feels healthy from the inside as well as out.

This mask was the second from Eminence that I have tried and certainly not the last. The application of the Eight Greens Masque is the same as the Raspberry Pore Refining Mask, sweet and simple. Just add a few drop of water, spread a thin layer all over your face, then carry out a 5-10 minute session of relaxation before rinsing. 

If my skin could audibly sigh after removing this mask that's what it would have done. The Eight Greens Phyto Masque gave my skin this lovely feeling of full and freshness. All the credit goes to the plants in the mask that fed my skin plenty of antioxidants and phytoestrogens. It reminded of a hot shower after a long day and a healthy, delicious meal!
