Santa Barbara's Earth Day - History

Earth Day celebrations began almost 50 years ago. Did you know the idea for Earth day came from a U.S. Senator after witnessing the 1969 massive oil spill in our very own Santa Barbara? 

Earth Day was founded in 1970 to raise public consciousness about air and water pollution. Since 1970, we have made great strides in protecting our environment, however still more needs to be done.
