About Alfred Pomerleau:
I am a licensed acupuncturist in private practice in Santa Barbara since 2000. In my clinic I continuously emphasize the role of food and nutrition as being of primary importance for maintaining good health and the first choice for healing and treating disease. Integrating juice fasting in my clinic not only addresses the present complaint/symptom but simultaneously treats the entire body to achieve quick and deep results to good health.
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"
Hippocrates
The lecture will include the following:
- History of fasting for health, and spiritual reasons.
- Differences of water and juice fasts.
- How to prepare for long or short fast.
- What experiences can be expected during the fast.
- How the body responds to a fast, physiologically and anatomically.
- The mechanisms involved during a fast that are responsible for healing.
- What conditions, illnesses, and diseases have fasts been used for.
- Who should not fast.
- What is a must and what is desirable during a fast.
- When and “how” to break a fast and resume eating.
- Hope to see you at the Spa for this great free lecture, Shannon

Just a month after her wedding, 31-year-old Walker was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis; two years later, she was bitter, isolated, and addicted to both pain medication and self-pity. In need of help beyond drug detox, Cami takes the advice of a South African healer: give away something every day, for 29 days. Walker soon learns that being mindful of giving also means being open to gifts from others, and that gratefulness and mutual generosity is the key to a better, more rewarding life. Glimpses into Walker's day-to-day difficulties-work, family life, constant therapeutic treatment and addiction recovery among them-crop up among the stories of her daily gifts, grounding the work (based on Walker's Web site) in personal details. But the meat, an admirable reworking of The Secret (in that it should actually help someone, at least gift recipients), speaks largely to those already initiated into the cult of positivity.

I loved this book and gave it to my Le Reve staff. Anyone you ask will probably say they believe that the more you give the more you will receive. Don't you? It being the beginning of 2010 what better time to try it out! Give for 29 days!! Let me know what happens. XX Shannon
