Paving the Way for a Greener Tomorrow!

Good morning readers,
I am so happy to announce that Le Reve has been re-certified as a green business once again! With that being said I thought I would take a few minutes today to tell you all what exactly that means and how Le Reve is working to provide a cleaner and greener tomorrow! First of all, what is the Green Business Program you may be wondering? Well, this is a wonderful program that was created to encourage businesses to implement actions to protect, preserve and improve the environment not just in Santa Barbara but in many other cities as well. To become certified the business must have a willingness and passion to preserve the beautiful planet we live on. This is done through several steps such as following all environmental laws and regulations, conserving resources and implementing pollution prevention measures that ensure that as little waste as possible is created by the day to day activities of the business.  Furthermore, certified businesses make a conscious effort to inform people of the benefits of being green and lead by example to show why such practices are so essential to a more sustainable way of life. Here at Le Reve we take this certification very seriously as our staff makes an effort to be as green and resourceful as possible. In our spa we recycle and compost our waste and try to avoid purchasing products that have to be discarded in the trash. Not only are we avid on reducing the amount of trash we produce we are also very resourceful in many of our other practices. For instance as many of you know we only work with businesses who follow our passion for organics and environmental preservation. The Eminence and Jurlique lines that we carry in our boutique use all recyclable packaging material which furthers our cause, while also using only the best organic raw ingredients in their products which assures that our costumers receive only the best and most environmentally conscious products. In addition to being as green as possible with our product consumption and recycling/composting efforts, we also are very green in the way the spa is run on a day to day basis. All of our menus are hand made by the spa coordinators and are made of 100% recyclable materials to ensure that we have as little negative impact on the environment as possible. To take it even further we unplug and turn off all lights that are not in use or absolutely necessary to reduce the amount of electricity we use again aiding in the preservation of our delicate planet. Another wonderful practice that we have here at Le Reve is that we as I mentioned earlier we work with companies who have a similar mindset about the importance of environmental preservation. The clothes we sell in our boutique are all made in the United States and are made by a company that is working on bringing attention to the physical and environmental problems that come from the sweat shop labor in China, and who are promoting better safer and overall more beneficial practices for the production of merchandise. Finally we are also very conscious of the products we use when cleaning our spa. While many other spa's rely on bleach and harsh chemicals to sterilize their rooms and common areas we take a different approach. We use all non harmful products to clean and sterilize our spa. By using products like orange oil and vinegar we ensure that no clients are ever exposed to hazardous chemicals, while also helping keep our environment safe from ground water poisoning which frequently occurs when these types of products are thrown away in the trash and end up in our landfill. As you can see being a green certified business is no easy task, but since keeping our planet green and beautiful for generations to come is a passion shared by everyone on our staff we are doing what we can to make a difference.

Thank you for reading my posting today and I hope I gave you all a better idea of what it means to be Green Business Certified!
