Your Are What You Eat

Good afternoon everyone! Esthetician Ashley here to share a new discovery of mine!
Now as an Esthetician it's my job to help my clients achieve beautiful, glowing and healthy skin by not only giving a great facial, but also by teaching them great skin care at home. Remember, I only see you for an hour once a month, the rest is up to you.
There's an old saying: "You are what you eat," and I have learned how true this really is. It can be frustrating for some who live a pretty healthy and active lifestyle but still suffer from breakouts and/or a major imbalance of the skin. You're using all the right products, they're organic, but you may ask" why is my skin still acting out?".  As you know, your skin is your largest organ so whatever is going on inside your body does show up on your skin. Good and Bad.

Snyder designs eating plans, recipes and tips that work for everyone regardless of lifestyle: vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian or omnivore, though she emphasizes a primarily plant foods-based diet. She teaches others to discover their ultimate health and beauty by following her principles and without having to obsess over the minutia of typical dieting programs.

Did you know the full process of digestion takes more energy than any other internal function of the human body? Digestion is the key that can elevate your beauty to the highest levels, or, adversely take you down, by sucking precious energy that could be used for other processes. Certain "detox foods" help rid the body of old waste so your digestion can function properly. By doing this your save more energy, lose weight and look younger.
For over five thousand years in Chinese Medicine, practitioners have understood that uneven color and texture, patchiness, lines, breakouts and other issues with your face can be indicative of deeper issues going on within your body and in your organs. Similar to acupuncture, face mapping is rooted in the belief that all parts of the body are intrinsically connected. Some examples that you might learn from examining your face:

  • Breakouts around the chin/jaw area could signal hormonal imbalance and congestion in the colon.
  • Lines above the upper lip might indicate stagnation or blockage in the digestive tract. This can be attributed to the acummulation of acidic waste and toxicity, which is not adequately leaving the body.
  • Deep laugh lines relate to your lung and liver. The lungs and colon are considered yin-yang oragns. These laugh lines may also mean you may have an overloaded liver.
  • A lined forehead might point to congestion, and specifically a blocked, toxin-filled colon and gallbladder. You may also be consuming a lot of dairy, cooked oils or processed foods. On the other hand a person may have a good diet but not be cleansing properly.
  • Dark under-eye circles or puffiness may indicate adrenal exhaustion, too much caffeine,  a lack of sleep or too much stress.
  • Crow's feet around the eyes may signal adrenal glands are being over taxed and body is overly acidic and imbalanced.

Patchy skin or lines high up around the cheekbone area may be associated with heart issues . This could be due to eating too much cholesterol, animal products or cooked oil.

This book discuses the high content of mineral-, enzyme-, and fiber-riched foods that will help you cleanse and unclog the waste from the intestines so that your body can start to absorb nutrients optimally. There's also tons of recipes. It's a very interesting and motivating book. I am one who's guilty of not eating the best, drinking a lot of coffee and it definitely shows on my skin. Outside factors do play a roll in how your skin is affected, but I'm now a firm believer that it's mainly all about the inside of your body and what you see on your skin is your body telling you what's "really" going on. Once you've achieved the right balance in the body and follow with great skin care, you will see how beautiful and glowing your skin truly is.
I encourage you to pick up this book and join in on the journey with me. I will keep you updated on any yummy recipes or tips as I go along my new healthier lifestyle change.
Have a wonderful weekend and a happy Fiesta!
~Ashley, Esthetician with Le Reve Organic Spa and Boutique
